»They will walk that
road together!«
On April 1, 2008, Armin started working as a foreman in what was Plant 2 in Landshausen at the time. It was here where he learned the ropes, as he jokingly puts it. Over the years and following the construction of new production halls until the relocation to the current site in Hermaringen, the scope of Armin's tasks also broadened. »In the beginning, we used to attach storage racks to the warehouse floor ourselves, but now computer-controlled logistics robots have taken over the job.«
However, it is not only the spatial and technical improvements that are particularly important to Armin, but also the guidance of his employees in Production. More recently, he has been responsible for supervising around 70 employees.

»You always have to stay on the ball!«

»You always have to stay on the ball!« Every day, Armin makes his rounds through the Production department to help resolve any issues, coordinate with his team leaders and provide active support wherever he can. He prefers meeting »face to face.« »There is always something else to do,« explains Armin. Sometimes a complaint ends up on the table, or there is an issue with a new product, an incorrect work sequence or changes to parts lists.

Speaking of parts lists, when Armin started at Hauff, no parts lists were available for orders. The employees learned which parts were needed for which order by heart. »In terms of organisation, there have been so many developments over the years and these are constantly being improved.« From the original organisation and an intermediate organisation that used parts lists to today's organisation that uses the SAP system.

»We really had our work cut out!«

»In the years when we had an almost twenty percent increase in production, we had an awful lot to do.« Armin recalls. Hauff technology moves with the times, which almost always results in changes in the production process. Armin made an active contribution here. Last year, the entire production hall was restructured according to lean management requirements. »We really had our work cut out!«

»Anyone can do it easily.«

The activity that Armin has always enjoyed the most is further developing his employees, whether through retraining or further education. For example, he worked hard to ensure that one of his employees could become a master on the side. »It made me extremely proud to see how he developed from a machinery and equipment operator to a team leader!« He himself also became an industry master and a technical business economist on the side.  »It wasn't always easy to attend school on top of my job. Especially when you are building a house and have two children to look after.« But he managed to overcome the challenge. »Anyone can do it easily.«

»I was convinced by the fact that the boss himself took time.«

When asked what had excited him the most over the years and what was the main reason for him staying at the company, he replied: »The Hauff family! You will rarely find a group of colleagues anywhere else that cooperate with one another in such a positive way.«

Armin already noticed during the job interview that Hauff-Technik attached importance to the individual. »What convinced me was that the boss took the time himself to discuss various future prospects with me.«

»They will be fine!«

From next year, Armin will be handing over management of the department to a colleague in order to look for new challenges in the Occupational Safety department. At the age of 61, he can say with confidence that the future of all the young people he has mentored is now in good hands. »They will be fine!«
